After an incredible 150-year journey dedicated to supporting and advancing the careers of sales professionals across Canada, the Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) has made the difficult decision to initiate an orderly wind-down of our operations.
We want to assure our members and stakeholders that we remain committed to fulfilling our service obligations in 2025; our membership commitments will be honoured through December 31, 2025, albeit delivered in a modified way.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our employees, members, partners, and stakeholders for their support over the years. The impact of the CPSA will continue to resonate within the sales profession in Canada, and we take great pride in the contributions we have made together.
Since our founding in 1874 as the Commercial Travellers Association of Canada, CPSA has grown and evolved to meet the needs of sales professionals, providing industry-leading standards, training, and benefits. For over a century and a half, we have stood alongside our members and partners, championing the vital contributions of sales to Canada’s economy. Together, we have shaped the sales profession, creating opportunities for development, growth, and success for countless professionals. Thank you all for your trust, dedication, and belief in CPSA’s mission. Thank you for being part of 150 years of CPSA’s history and pursuit of sales excellence.
November 8, 2024 - After an incredible 150-year journey dedicated to supporting and advancing the careers of sales
professionals across Canada, the Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) has made the difficult decision to
initiate an orderly wind-down of our operations. This decision was not taken lightly.
Despite extensive efforts to identify a sustainable business model, various factors – including the evolving
landscape of free digital training, heightened competition in the professional development sector,
and reduced discretionary spend by many Canadian organizations due to recent economic challenges – have made it
impossible for the association to continue.
As we enter this wind-down period, we want to assure our members and stakeholders that we remain committed to
fulfilling our service obligations. All professional development activities scheduled for 2024 will proceed
as planned, and our membership commitments will be honoured through December 31, 2025, albeit delivered in a
modified way. Further details regarding our 2025 service delivery plan will be shared within the coming weeks.
In connection with this transition, we would like to announce that the CPSA Foundation will
also be closing. However, before this occurs, the Foundation will allocate its funds under management to
accredited CPSA University and College partners. This initiative aims to further the education of Canada’s
future sales talent, ensuring that our legacy continues to inspire and empower the next generation of sales
professionals.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our employees, members, partners, and
stakeholders for their support over the years. The impact of the CPSA will continue to resonate within
the sales profession in Canada, and we take great pride in the contributions we have made together.
Sincerely,
The CPSA Board of Directors and Leadership Team
